I am hard at work with my co-editors, Dr. Ann Webb Price from Community Evaluation Solutions and Dr. Kyrah Brown from the University of Texas at Arlington editing this issue. We have a number of distinguished authors who have also been working hard to contribute chapters and are very excited about what we have seen so far.
I will be contributing my evaluation expertise to the National Library of Medicine's partnership with the NIH All of Us Research Program, a landmark effort to advance precision medicine. Starting January 31, 2018 I will be the new Editor of The Community Psychologist, a Society for Community Research and Action publication. I am very excited to take on these duties with my Associate Editor, Dominique Thomas.
In June, 2017 I was honored to receive the John Kalafat Award in Applied Community Psychology. John Kalafat's life work integrated the principles and research of community psychology with their practical applications. This award is presented to individuals who exemplify John's unique characteristics as mentor, teacher, and advocate, and his passion in making the benefits of community psychology accessible to all.
Ann Webb Price of Community Evaluation Solutions and I have teamed up to write this book. Stay tuned for more news about the release date!
I will be presenting the session listed below at the Society for Community Research and Action Biennial Conference to be held in Chicago, IL June 25th to 29th.
I will also be presenting a six-hour pre-conference workshop on Evaluating Coalitions and Collaboratives.
I will be, once again, teaming up with Ann Webb Price from Community Evaluation Solutions to present a 3-hour workshop on Evaluating Coalitions and Collaboratives. The AEA Summer Institute will be held in Atlanta, Georgia on June 9th to 12th.
On November 6, 2018 I presented a custom workshop titled "Evaluating Collaboratives and Coalitions" for the Center on Research and Evaluation, Simmons School of Education and Human Development at Southern Methodist University. This six-hour interactive workshop covered everything from coalition frameworks and dynamics to best practices for evaluating coalitions and collaboratives.
I presented the sessions listed below at the annual American Evaluation Association conference which was held in Cleveland, OH Wednesday, October 31 to Saturday, November 3. In addition to my finally having a chance to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, I had the opportunity to network with other evaluators and pick up new skills and knowledge. My sessions and activities were:
On October 25, 2018 I presented a session titled "Collaborating for Health Equity in Communities" with Dorothy Gibbons from The Rose and Julie St. John from the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center at Abilene. The Healthier Texas Summit was held in Austin, TX on October 25-26. The Keynote was delivered by Vice Admiral Jerome Adams, MD, MPH, the 20th Surgeon General of the United States.
