is based near Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas but I will work anywhere in the world. I founded it in 2009 to partner with nonprofits, governments, foundations, educational institutions, health care organizations, collaboratives, and communities to serve their needs to strengthen their organizations, evaluate what they are doing, and take action. My associates are the other consultants and companies that I partner with. I enjoy partnering with different and diverse consultants and companies as I always learn from my colleagues and feel that the synergy that occurs results in a better product.
All of the work I perform is conducted using an equity lens. All SWA associates are committed and strive to address equity, inclusion, and racial and social justice in all of our work. I strive to do better each day by reflecting on my own privilege. I actively denounce white supremacy in all its forms, and work to identify and dismantle structures that uphold it. I regularly take time to have difficult conversations with family and peers, embrace discomfort, and educate other white people on ways to be more human towards Black, Indigenous, and people of color.

I love what I do. I really enjoy working with organizations and communities. I'm happy facilitating a meeting or sitting at my desk writing reports. Mostly I like that I can spend my work time doing stuff that feels like I might be doing just a little something to make the world a better place.
I have been serving organizations and communities for over 40 years. My training in community, organizational, and developmental psychology provides me with a unique combination of skills and knowledge. I have years of local, state, national, and international experience. My experience includes conducting research and managing programs in large healthcare organizations, serving as an analyst with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, directing large-scale longitudinal studies, facilitating the development of and evaluating coalitions and collaboratives, and providing capacity building services for large and small nonprofit organizations. I have received awards for my work, presented at national and international professional meetings, and published books, articles, and book chapters in peer reviewed journals, books, and other publications.
I enjoy working with others and on teams. Whenever possible I partner with other consultants or companies. Although I am based in Texas, I will travel anywhere across the country or around the world. I've worked everywhere from Dallas to Washington DC to Cairo Egypt.
So who am i? I am a white, heterosexual, cisgender woman, a wife and mother, a Baha'i, a chihuahua mommy, a community and developmental psychologist, a grandmother, an author, a great-grandmother, a speaker, a cousin, a teacher, a sister-in-law, a cook, a native of Flint Michigan, and a crocheter of blankets. Most of all, I am member of the human race.
"Access to knowledge is the right of every human being, and participatino in its generation, application, and diffision a responsibility that all must shoulder in the great enterprise of building a properous world civilization - each individual according to his or her talents and abiliies. Justice demands universal participation." - The Universal House of Justice, To the Bahá'ís of the World, Ridván, 2010.
My approach is collaborative and designed to be inclusive of all voices and perspectives. The way I see it, I know about evaluation, processes for strategic planning, and some other things, but I don't know everything. I share my knowledge and tools with the expertise of people I work with - other consultants, clients, and community members - to produce actionable, realistic, and sustainable results that benefit the organization and the community. I consider everyone to be an expert, and recognize the importance of all interested parties in generating knowledge and solutions to human problems. At this stage in my career, I have learned the value of humility - cultural and otherwise, and that is how I like to approach my work.
I prefer projects that are truly participatory and incorporate the voices of all interested parties from design through completion and reporting. I firmly believe that people who share their thoughts, knowledge, wisdom, and insights should be compensated for their time and input.
